14th Congressional District
11/04/2012
To check out the 14th Congressional District, you need to head west of the city. In fact, the outer reaches of it stretch nearly to the Iowa border...but much of 'Chicagoland' is part of that district. It encompasses towns like Aurora, Elgin, Yorkville, Geneva and Plano.
Plano is home to an architectural marvel known as Farnsworth House... the only residential structure designed by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe that is currently open to the public. One destination that is a kid-favorite is located in Aurora...it is the Phillips Park Zoo. Open all but 3 days a year, it is free and showcases animals native to North America like wolves, cougars, river otters, elk...even a couple bald eagles. Fermilab in Batavia is helping to unravel the mysteries of particle physics and every Wednesday, the public is invited to come out and see how their high-tech work is done with a free tour at 10:30AM.
